Denim Midi

We love denim, we love midis... is this dress perfection?

According to fashion reports, denim is back. Truth is, it never really went away.
Denim is a classic staple "item" we all have in our closets. It is flattering and easy to wear.

I found this dress in one of my many trips to Forever21. I knew right away it'd fit perfectly.
Midi-length is 'in' and flatters my figure beautifully.
This dress is a light denim fabric that is perfect for the summer. It can easily be worn with flats for an even more casual and comfortable look. You can be creative and use it as a top with a long maxi skirt, or you can make it semi-casual like I did in this look.

I decided to keep it casual, easy and simple.
I love wearing denim with this tan color; it's effortless. I kept jewelry to a minimum so the dress and the sunglasses could be the statement. I went with my every day bag which is my travel tote; it is a basic but the most comfortable bag ever.

Are you into denim dresses this season? ...Can you style it?!

Fun Fact: These pictures were taken by my daddy.
I am so amazed by his patience and effort.
We were at "La Plaza" of the town I was born in: Humacao, Puerto Rico. This Plaza is were the main and biggest Catholic Church in town is located. My parents got married here and there's so much more history in this place. It is very special to me.

Tropical Spring

"Florals? For spring? Groundbreaking." -The Devil Wears Prada

...Well, I happen to think florals can be "groundbreaking" all year round!
Florals can be romantic, fun, classic or edgy, it all depends on how you style it. I love playing with prints, specially florals. You can mix prints or just wear them as a statement.

This blog post was totally unplanned, hence the hair.
I've had this skirt for such a long time; I always wear it on days that I don't feel like dressing up and just want to be comfortable. I was at my grandma's house and this was  my outfit of the day, minus the lipstick and the heels (of course). On my way home I remembered that when I bought this skirt I always pictured it with red lips... Then I realized, "Omg I've never done red lips with this skirt!" So, when I arrived at my place I put on some lipstick, looked for some heels, grabbed a clutch and I was out the door. Ha!

I like how the whole look turned out. However, I must admit this isn't something I would've thought of blogging... ever! I guess that's one of the fun parts of blogging and being a stylist... the unexpected. The creativity and the random last minute ideas that end up being pretty cool.

Remember, "fashion is what you buy, style is what you do with it". Style is a very personal thing and this is why sometimes random looks just happen to be "amazing".
To me, it's all about having fun and being creative with fashion, but most importantly adding confidence and personality to everything you wear.

Have you ever worn a total random outfit that ended up being a hit? Are you into florals?
 ... Can you style it?

xoxo,
Ingrid Aixa

April 2015 Beauty Favorites

Today we are talking beauty!
I am a makeup junkie... I love makeup nearly as much as I love fashion. Since I don't have the "essentials" to start my you tube channel, I decided to blog my monthly favorites for now. Please excuse the quality of the pictures. If you've been reading my blogs you know I do not own a professional camera. I will add links to most of the products mentioned so you can see better quality pics and get more detailed info on them.

Eyes

So, I've always been a fan of the original Naked palette, it is my all time favorite. However, this month I've been really into my Naked2.
I've been using Busted to smoke out my eyes when I go out or want a more dramatic look. Half Baked is my all time favorite gold color, it is just the perfect gold. As you can see I also have the single Half Baked shadow; definitely worth the splurge.
Foxy is ideal for all over the lid, Bootycall is the perfect highlight (sometimes I even use it as my all-over highlight) and I've been loving Chopper lately.

When it comes to mascara I do not splurge. I have in the past and you can  mark my word, it is not worth it! My all time favorite mascara (and clearly this month as well) has been the classic L'Oreal Voluminous in carbon black. Honestly, I am not even going to ramble on how good this stuff is, I'll just tell you guys two thing: I always get compliments on my lashes when I wear this mascara...
Go buy it!!!!

{Check out all the Naked2 colors up close and see other reviews.}

Face

Some of the face products you see here are part of my everyday routine.
I always use the Maybelline Shine Free Oil-Control loose powder to set my concealer, and the EcoTools Kabuki Brush is my everyday go-to brush for powder.

The Maybelline loose powder is just something I decided to try one day because I wanted a light setting powder. This one was inexpensive and had good reviews so I went for it. To be honest, I have nothing to compare it to because it works perfectly fine on me so I haven't bother to try any other loose powders; this one does the job.

This EcoTools Kabuki brush is very convenient... it is retractable and it has a cap! It is perfect to carry in your purse for touch ups during the day.

This past month I've been trying out different primer samples. Every primer I've tried breaks me out, so I'm on the hunt for one that woks on my skin. So far the Too Faced Primed & Poreless Smoothing Primer has been my favorite. I can't say it leaves my skin looking "flawless" but I do see a difference when I use it and my foundation lasts longer. So, it has been a favorite indeed.

As you guys know, last month I went to New York. After that trip I have been going through a tough phase and I've been a little stressed. I mean, traveling alone makes me break out, imagine what stress does to my face. Make Up Forever Full Cover Concealer is my best friend and savior when I'm having a break out.
Note: I've never tried this concealer under my eyes but on blemishes this bad boy is king! It is pricey but I promise you it is worth every penny and you only need a little bit. I swear by it.

Melba by MAC has been my favorite blush this month. Do we really have to discuss this?
It's simple...
It is MAC, it is the perfect peachy-pink matte blush, it goes with every skin tone.... It's my holy grail.

Lips

For lips, I've been really into neutrals and working on the infamous "your lips, but better" color. I've been trying so many but I've worn this Maybelline one the most. The color is right, I can't quite say it is my all time favorite but I like it.
I just can't get over the fact that a matte lipstick can feel so light and creamy on the lips. I am in love! Daringly Nude, is my favorite lipstick this month and my favorite color from the Maybelline matte collection.
When I was really into the Kylie Jenner lips last season  I seriously bought over 10 lip liners trying to achieve the right color. To say the truth, I love them all specially the NYX ones. This one in the color Natural happens to be the one I like most with my the Daringly Nude color so I've been using it quite a bit lately. I love nude lips!

What are your all time favorite beauty products? Which products have you been loving this month? Have you guys tried any of the ones I mentioned?

xoxo,
Ingrid Aixa

Color My Baby Blues

My 70's love affair continues with a funky, fresh and flowing edit of wide-leg trousers.
High-waist, wide-leg and baby blue... I mean, this pants scream spring/summer 2015. They are definitely a statement and a great bargain, I got them for twenty (something) bucks.

When I first saw this pants my mind automatically went crazy with a bunch of outfit ideas; they are  so wearable. Baby blue is the color of the season and I've been really into playing with it. For this look I wanted to get out if the standard black & white combination that is usually styled with this baby blue color. I wanted funky, unexpected color, but nothing too crazy that overshadowed the pants.

This top has everything I wanted to go for; it's unexpected, it adds color, it's flowy, comfy and stylish... Just perfect! When creating looks like this one should always find a way to bring the look together. I wore white strappy heels  to keep the look soft and match the canvas of the shirt. I also made sure the height of the heels was right. I added one of my favorite black sunglasses the to add more funk and a blue bag that matches the shirt perfectly.

I love how this look turned out, and I'm excited to style different looks with this trousers. Are you loving baby blue this season?  Are you digging' wide-leg trousers? ...Can you style it?

70's Flare

Girls let your skinnies rest, it is time to get some flares! "This season, nothing says casual-chic like a pair of flared jeans." (elle.com) Countless celebrities have already been spotted rockin' this trend. Actually, not so much a trend anymore. Flares took over the spring runways during fashion week and they will be transitioning into fall 2015.

The 70's are back and I'm ecstatic, I love the 70's fashion. I've always loved flared jeans, I owned tons of them back when I was in middle school and high school.  Flared jeans are flattering on almost every body type. They make your legs look like a mile long, they make you look thinner and taller... who doesn't want that?!

For today's look I wanted to keep everything simple. The floral button down shirt has a vintage vibe to it that I love. I've had it for so long, it is one of my favorites. I thought it'd be perfect with my flare jeans to create a 70's vibe. Button down shirts were 'everything' during that time period.

Fringes are trending, they're very hippie and the seventies was the decade of the hippies, so this bag was perfect with this outfit. I styled this outfit with platform heels and to complete the look I rocked some aviators, they were just like the obvious choice (lol).

I am obsessing over flares so this is the first of many 'flared' looks you'll see in the blog. Are you into flared jeans?  Do you already own a pair? ... Can you style it?

Deserted Spring

Spring is here, but it is still winter cold in New York City. If you follow me on instagram you'd know I've been in NYC for a couple of days now. I am excited to be here; I love New York.  The weather has been crazy, it's been really cold and windy. It actually snowed on the first day of spring.

For today's look I skipped the coat and wore a light draped jacket instead. Draped jackets are the must-have transitioning piece this year. They were seen everywhere during the winter, they're  transitioning into spring and are definitely light enough to make summer outfits more stylish.

Though it is spring and I could've added some color to this neutral jacket, the snow and the weather had me feeling, 'neutral'! Since I decided to go with earthy tones and the look is pretty simple, I made sure I added statement pieces. The hat was perfect for keeping me warm, and the fact that hats are trending is a plus. I matched the hat with my favorite tall boots which are also a statement and wore a belt to complete the look. I carried a red bag that day to add a little fun to the outfit.
I honestly feel like red is a neutral and I can literally wear it with anything. It's not everyone's cup of tea, I know... But, don't be afraid to wear red. It is more wearable than you think, I assure you.

Do you like red? Are you into Hats? ...Can You Style It?

Uptown Funk

Overalls have been trending for a while now and though I was a little skeptical about them at first, I'm all about styling them. I would wear denim overalls to school (all the time) back in the 90's; they were just so cool and comfy. Now they're back and I decided to style them the way I did back in the day, but with a modern twist of course.

Unlike denim overalls this black one doesn't necessarily have to be dressed up to be wearable. I went very 90's with the styling and made it street chic. To add some sass I wore a crop top and left  one side of the jumper open. I styled it with this metallic pointy shoes to add some funk and the crossbody bag finishes the look with an unexpected pop of color.

I look forward to styling this overall in many different ways. This kind of overall can be turned into an even more casual wear, it can be glammed up and can totally be worn for the office. I love versatile, unique and statement pieces like this.

Are you guys into overalls? Would you rock them? ... Can You Style It?
